Common dental emergencies we handle

If you’re experiencing any of these, don’t wait — call us right away.

Severe toothache

Persistent or throbbing pain can signal infection or decay that needs urgent attention.

Broken or chipped tooth

A cracked, chipped, or fractured tooth should be treated quickly to prevent further damage.

Knocked-out tooth

A fully knocked-out tooth is a true emergency — fast care gives the best chance to save it.

Lost crown or filling

A crown or filling that falls out leaves the tooth vulnerable and often painful.

Swelling or abscess

Facial swelling or a gum abscess can indicate infection that needs prompt treatment.

Bleeding or soft-tissue injury

Cuts to the gums, lips, or tongue that won’t stop bleeding need professional care.

What to do until you reach us

Quick, calm steps for the most common emergencies — then call us right away.

Knocked-out tooth

Pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse gently, and if you can, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it in milk. Call us immediately — the sooner we see you, the better the chance of saving it.

Severe toothache

Rinse with warm water and gently floss to remove any trapped food. Use a cold compress on the outside of the cheek for swelling. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum.

Broken or chipped tooth

Save any pieces, rinse your mouth with warm water, and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Call us to be seen as soon as possible.

Lost crown or filling

Keep the crown if you have it. You can temporarily cover the tooth with dental cement from a pharmacy. Don’t use glue — call us to get it re-secured properly.

These are general first-aid tips, not a substitute for professional care. If you have severe swelling affecting breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or trauma to the head, seek emergency medical help.
